What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out audits, inspections, and risk assessments across production, warehouse, and yard areas, pinpointing hazards and proposing practical fixes
- Helping to write, review, and roll out safety policies, procedures, and safe work instructions that meet current legislation and standards
- Looking into incidents, near-misses, and reported hazards, then producing root cause analyses and action plans to prevent recurrence
- Running inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training for staff, contractors, and site visitors
- Keeping the site aligned with WHS/OHS requirements and acting as the point of contact for regulators when needed
- Working alongside engineering and operations on machine guarding, ergonomics, and process safety specific to heavy equipment manufacturing
- Measuring and reporting on safety performance, including lead and lag indicators, and providing regular updates to site leadership
- Contributing to emergency readiness, including response procedures and drills
- Promoting a proactive safety mindset by encouraging staff involvement and open hazard reporting
