We are partnering with a purpose-driven community housing provider supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness. With approximately 450 staff across 13 metropolitan sites, with teams working at the frontline, building homes, strengthening communities and providing critical support services to vulnerable Victorians.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, operational OHS role supporting both office and site-based teams (with flexibility across office/WFH). You will play a key role in maintaining momentum across safety systems, incident response and psychosocial risk management in a complex, high-risk human services environment.
This role requires confidence partnering with social workers and frontline staff in managing challenging and sensitive situations.
Key Focus Areas Psychosocial Hazard Management
- Occupational violence and aggression
- Exposure to traumatic content
- Client critical incidents
- Alcohol and other drug-related risks
- Fatigue management
- Psychological First Aid support
- Emergency Management Plans
- Critical incident management and review
- Ongoing incident review and follow-up
- Management of Damstra safety reporting system
- System governance and continuous improvement
- Running HSR Committee meetings and supporting HSRs
- Manual handling risk management
About You
You are a pragmatic and resilient safety professional who understands the realities of frontline community or human services environments. You are confident working with emotionally complex situations and can provide calm, practical safety leadership in sensitive circumstances.
Essential:
- Formal OHS qualifications
- Experience in psychosocial risk management
- Strong working knowledge of emergency and critical incident management
- Experience supporting HSRs and safety committees
- WWCC
- Current Police Check
