About the role
You'll work alongside the Site Supervisor and Project Manager as the on-site safety lead and First Aid Officer for the full construction period. You'll set up the site office and its safety systems before works begin, then keep the active construction zone safe, compliant and well documented each day.
Key responsibilities
- Set up the site office with the Site Supervisor: SWMS and induction folders, signage, fire and evacuation maps, site plan, noticeboard, a daily-update whiteboard and the first aid hub
- Prepare and deliver site inductions and keep the induction register and site access list up to date
- Review and support SWMS, including High Risk Construction Work (HRCW), and confirm or deliver mobile plant inductions
- Complete the daily construction site safety checklist and lead safety walks, then follow up on the actions they raise
- Run the safety part of toolbox meetings and keep safety records in the active zone
- Monitor works throughout the day, report hazards and incidents, and make sure corrective actions are completed
- Proven experience in a construction safety, WHS or site coordination role
- Strong working knowledge of SWMS, HRCW and Victorian OHS requirements
- Current First Aid certificate (HLTAID011) and Construction Induction (White Card)
- Confident leading toolbox talks and walks, and raising issues with supervisors and project managers
- Certificate IV in WHS or higher
- Experience on projects in public buildings or sites that stay operational during works
