That location is a big part of the appeal. You get the space, the calm and the shorter commute of the country, with the city still close enough for a weekend when you want it. Think foothills and open road rather than gridlock, and a community that actually has time for you. The site itself is a smaller operation of around 200 people, which gives it a tight knit, everyone knows everyone feel that the bigger plants simply cannot offer. It is well run, well established, and genuinely a nice place to spend your days.
THE ROLE
SHE Manager, reporting to the Factory Manager, with a SHE Coordinator reporting to you. You are the safety authority for the whole site, leading a small team and owning the agenda end to end. You set the strategy and you stay close enough to the floor to make it happen. It is equal parts thinking and doing, ideal for someone who wants real ownership rather than a seat in a large team where the impact gets diluted.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the site SHE strategy and drive it day to day
- Maintain and improve the safety and environmental management systems, including relevant certifications
- Lead risk assessment, incident investigation and corrective action across the site
- Build a genuine safety culture through Behaviour Based Safety and visible, hands on leadership
- Coach and support the Factory Manager and line leaders so safety belongs to everyone
- Develop and guide your SHE Coordinator
- Keep the site compliant with all relevant SHE legislation and company standards
- Manufacturing experience, ideally food or FMCG but strong backgrounds from similar manufacturing environments are welcome
- The strategic head to set direction and the practical drive to deliver it yourself
- Comfortable leading a small team and staying hands on across the site
- A track record of lifting safety culture and bringing people with you
- Real energy and warmth, the kind that gets a floor engaged rather than compliant
- A formal qualification in OH&S, environment or a related field, with experience across both
- Working knowledge of ISO aligned safety and environmental management systems
- The backing and resources of a major global business behind a small team feel
- Annual performance bonus
- Discounted private health and onsite health and wellbeing support
- Generous parental and partner leave, plus the option to purchase extra leave
- Paid leave for volunteering and community involvement
- Career pathways across a large global network for those who want them
- A down to earth, genuinely inclusive workplace
