Our client is one of the world's most established food manufacturers, and this is one of its most important sites. It carries real weight inside the business, the kind of operation where the standards set here are noticed well beyond the front gate. It runs as a large, complex, high volume environment with a continuous excellence culture built on TPM and LEAN that has been decades in the making.
For the right person this is genuinely career defining. A site of this scale and standing does not open a role like this often, and when it does, the person who takes it leaves a mark that outlasts them.
THE LOCATION
This role is based in regional Victoria, and that is part of what makes it special. You trade the crawl of a city commute for open space, a real community, and a pace of life that lets you actually enjoy what you earn. It is river and wine country, the kind of place where housing goes further, weekends feel longer, and your neighbours know your name. Relocation support is on the table to make the move an easy one. Plenty of people arrive planning to give it a few years and quietly never leave.
THE ROLE
SHE Manager, based permanently on site. You report to the Factory Manager with a dotted line to the Market SHE Manager, and you carry two direct reports. The role exists to hold two things at once: the technical authority on safety, health and environment, and the person who drives safety culture across the whole plant. You set the direction, and you are out on the floor making it real.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Apply with your current CV and a brief note on your background and why this opportunity matters to you. Applications are reviewed as received. Alternatively, call direct for a confidential discussion.

You set the direction, and you are out on the floor making it real.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and own the factory SHE strategy, aligned to market and corporate objectives and tracked against lead and lag indicators
- Maintain and improve the integrated management system, including ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 certification
- Run the site risk assessment program from assessment and incident investigation through to corrective action close out and auditing
- Lead Behaviour Based Safety with a focus on shifting culture rather than policing compliance
- Coach the Factory Manager, leadership team and line managers so safety sits with line management across the site
- Ensure compliance with SHE legislation and company standards, and build an active network with regulators, local industry and the community
- Food manufacturing experience. You need to have managed inside a food or FMCG production environment and understand how it runs
- Operational leadership credibility, comfortable leading from the floor of a working plant rather than the office
- Strategic leadership, the ability to set direction in line with global objectives and take people with you
- A track record in change management and transformation, genuinely shifting how a site thinks and behaves
- Real drive, energy and engagement, the kind that pulls people at every level into safety rather than pushing it onto them
- A formal qualification in OH&S, environment or a related field, backed by hands on experience across both
- Working knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001 and direct experience holding certification
- Familiarity with TPM, LEAN or equivalent and how safety fits within them
- Structured career development and clear professional growth
- Yearly performance bonuses
- 30 days of free accommodation to help you settle before finding a home
- Health and wellness support including site immunisation and discounted private health
- Parental and partner leave, plus the option to purchase additional leave
- Special leave for volunteering, community sport and emergency services
- A workplace with a real commitment to diversity and inclusion
