This site operates as a critical node in the company's Asia-Pacific supply chain. It is a large, complex manufacturing environment with a strong continuous excellence culture built around TPM and LEAN principles.
For the right person, this is a genuinely career-defining opportunity - a site of this scale and strategic importance does not recruit at this level often.
THE ROLE
This is an embedded, operational leadership position. You will be based permanently on site, reporting to the Factory Manager with a dotted line to the Market/Business SHE Manager. You will carry two direct reports and will be expected to function as both the technical authority on SHE and the cultural driver for safety across the entire site.
YOUR MANDATE WILL COVER:
- Developing and owning the factory SHE strategy, with objectives set in alignment with market and corporate direction and performance tracked against both lead and lag indicators
- Maintaining and improving the integrated SHE management system, including ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 certification
- Leading the site risk assessment program — from assessment and incident investigation through to corrective action close-out and auditing
- Championing Behaviour-Based Safety at all levels, with a genuine focus on shifting culture rather than simply managing compliance
- Coaching the Plant Manager, management team and line managers so that safety becomes a line management responsibility across the site, not just a departmental one
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable SHE legislation and company standards, including NCE, TPM, LEAN, NEMS and NSMS, and managing NIMS in joint partnership with Quality
- Building and maintaining an active external network with regulatory authorities, local industry and community stakeholders
- A formal qualification in OH&S, environment, or a related discipline, supported by hands-on experience across both areas
- Demonstrated experience managing SHE in a complex, high-volume manufacturing or operational environment
- Proven ability to manage change and deliver results through others, not just through direct authority
- Practical understanding of integrated SHE management systems, including risk assessment methodology and incident investigation processes
- Working knowledge of ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 and direct experience managing certification requirements
- Familiarity with continuous excellence methodologies — TPM, LEAN or equivalent — and how safety integrates within these frameworks
- Developed capability to understand and influence behaviour across all levels of an industrial workforce
- Current knowledge of national, state and local SHE legislation and applicable industry codes
- The personal credibility and communication skills to work effectively with an executive leadership team and a frontline production workforce
THE BENEFITS
- Structured career development support and professional growth opportunities
- Yearly performance bonuses
- 30 days of free accommodation to get started without the stress of finding a place to live
- Health and wellness benefits including site immunisation programs and discounted private health insurance
- Parental and partner leave provisions
- Option to purchase additional leave
- Special leave for volunteering, community sport and emergency services commitments
- A workplace with a genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion
