Role details
Senior Health, Safety, Environment & Dangerous Goods Specialist based at the Tullamarine facility, this pivotal role is responsible for driving and embedding HSE excellence across operations. You will lead the implementation of HSE procedures, cultivate a strong safety culture, and provide specialist guidance on Dangerous Goods and compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and support Operations Managers on the application of the FedEx Integrated Management System
- Partner with site leadership to develop and implement safety initiatives that reduce incidents and drive continuous improvement
- Engage with Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and union stakeholders to effectively address safety concerns
- Oversee risk assessments, environmental impact reviews, emergency drills, inspections, and checks
- Ensure high standards in incident investigation quality and monitor timely completion
- Lead significant risk assessments and serious incident investigations; manage corrective actions
- Maintain compliance with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) standards
- Support regulatory reporting, including notifiable incidents and external audits or visits
- Provide subject matter expertise on Dangerous Goods and Heavy Vehicle National Law
- Track and report HSE performance metrics to regional leadership
- Lead critical risk inspections and site-wide safety audits
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)
- Proven ability to implement and lead HSE systems and initiatives, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
- Strong experience in investigations, risk assessments, audits, and incident reviews
- Dangerous Goods and Heavy Vehicle compliance experience (highly regarded but not essential)
- Experience in self-insurance environments and ICAM methodology (desirable)
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills
