Safety Advisor – Electrical Engineering – West Sydney
  
A well established electrical contractor is going from strength to strength winning work across the resource and construction industry.

As part of a succession plan, my client is now looking for an up and coming HSE Advisor or Senior Advisor.  

This hire will need to have an electrical engineering qualification and will report into a manager who will eventually be moving into a different role.

The team is small however the career progression has a direct pathway to management in a shorter time frame than usual.

This role will be covering projects from Sydney CBD, through to surrounding areas including to the West of Sydney. 

On site based or working in the office to the West of Sydney.
  
The role itself..
  
The Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting and promoting a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace across all company operations.

The role ensures compliance with WHS legislation, company policies, and client requirements through effective safety systems, training, audits, inspections, incident management, and continuous improvement.
  
Working closely with management and operational teams, the Safety Advisor fosters a positive safety culture and provides practical HSE support across office and project sites.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve HSE policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Manage safety compliance, reporting, SWMS, and electronic safety systems.
  • Coordinate inductions, training, toolbox talks, and competency records.
  • Support injury management and return-to-work processes.
  • Provide advice and guidance to management and site teams on HSE matters.
  • Promote continuous improvement and a positive safety culture.
  
Skills & Experience
               
  • Cert V in Work Health & Safety or related discipline.
  • Electrical Engineer qualification is essential
  • Demonstrated HSE experience within the construction or a high-risk industry.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, and safety management systems.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills.
  • Experience with audits, incident investigations, training, and contractor management.
  
Key Performance Indicators
  • Compliance with WHS legislation and company HSE systems.
  • Reduction in workplace incidents and injuries.
  • Timely completion of audits, inspections, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • High levels of training, compliance, and employee engagement in safety.
