As part of that growth, they're creating a newly established leadership role Manager HSE - Field .
About the role
Reporting to the Head of HSE & Risk, you'll lead a state wide team of 5-10 HSE Advisors and Senior Advisors covering health, safety and environment across field operations, from the metro area through to regional and remote project sites. The workforce delivering this work is entirely contractor based, so this role is fundamentally about influence, relationship-building and contractor collaboration rather than direct workforce management.
This is a build-and-shape opportunity. The team is still forming from a capability and process standpoint, and your first 12-18 months will be about establishing a clear field delivery model before shifting focus to driving efficiency and productivity as the project pipeline continues to scale.
Key focus areas:
- Fatal risk management across field operations
- Assurance and verification — audits, inspections, critical control checks
- Contractor collaboration and influence across major capital projects
- Building a learning organisation — embedding insights from incidents and audits into continuous improvement
- Leadership and coaching-based team culture
- Digital safety — applying AI and improved systems/processes to lift productivity and reporting
- Proven leadership of field-based HSE teams in complex, geographically dispersed operational or construction environments
- Strong contractor management, influencing and negotiation skills
- Solid understanding of construction and major project lifecycles — heavy industry, energy, utilities, mining or oil & gas backgrounds highly regarded
- Comfortable operating and energised by a fast-changing, transformation-focused environment
- Degree in a relevant field (HSE) or equivalent experience
- 5 weeks' annual leave
- Paid parental leave
- Flexible working — 3 days office / 2 days from home (subject to operational requirements)
- Strong development culture, with individual career and development planning
- A genuinely engaged, collaborative team culture
