About the Role
The HSE Manager – Operations
will provide strategic and hands-on leadership across multiple project sites, ensuring best practice in health, safety, and environmental management. You’ll guide site-based HSE Advisors, oversee compliance and risk management, and ensure alignment with corporate systems, accreditation frameworks, and client expectations. Based on Melbourne, this national role would be suited to a confident and influential leader who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. You’ll be the force behind safe delivery across complex construction and commissioning projects — making a measurable difference to people, performance, and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee implementation of company-wide HSE processes across all project sites
- Drive compliance with SWMS, risk assessments, SOPs, and permits
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and management reviews to ensure system integrity
- Mentor and develop project-based HSE Advisors to deliver consistent safety performance
- Develop and execute HSE communication strategies, toolbox talks, and engagement initiatives
- Manage safety reporting, investigations, and continuous improvement programs
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and third-party auditors to uphold standards
- Monitor emerging safety trends and regulatory changes to maintain compliance
- Support emergency planning and business-wide alignment with ISO and FSC standards
- Minimum Diploma in Work Health & Safety (Certificate IV considered)
- Extensive experience in a senior HSE leadership role within construction, engineering, or utilities
- Strong knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 , and Federal Safety Commissioner requirements
- Demonstrated success leading HSE teams across multi-site or project environments
- Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
- Deep understanding of WHS legislation and risk management in construction environments
- Advantageous: experience in electrical, renewable energy, or solar projects , plus LVR/CPR and First Aid certifications
